During President Putin's visit to China in May, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed by Russian Railways Chairman Oleg Belozerov and China Railway Chairman Liu Zhenfang. This agreement marks a significant step forward in the development of international transport corridors, particularly under China's Belt & Road initiative.

Key points of the agreement include the enhancement of existing border crossings and their associated approach routes. Notably, this will involve the construction of a second 1,435 mm gauge track between Zabaikalsk and Manzhouli.

Additionally, the railways will review regulations governing container traffic between China and Europe. Plans are also in place to expand the transportation of agricultural products in refrigerated containers, further strengthening trade ties between the two nations.
